Reasons to use a house call veterinarian:

  • Eliminates the need for transportation.
  • Prevents stress to the animal and owner.
  • Removes the risk of you or your animal being bitten in the waiting room.
  • No chance of pets contracting disease from a hospital visit.

Services

I’m located in West Chester, PA and service its outlying areas including Chester Springs, Pottstown, Downingtown, Coatesville, Exton, The Main line (including Frazer, Malvern and Berwyn), Newtown Square, Media, Glen Mills, Chadds Ford, Kennett Square, and West Grove. Please note: Any no show visits or appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice of the scheduled appointment time will result in a charge of 50% of the house call visit cost.

Veterinary Services Include:

  2. Sick appointments: vomiting, diarrhea, allergies, itchy skin, hot spots, ear infections, skin infections, eye problems, anorexia/weight loss, lameness, checking masses, dental diseases, coughing, heart disease etc.
  3. Monitoring chronic diseases, for example kidney disease – Periodic check-in to administer fluids, check weight, bloodwork etc.
  4. Puppy or kitten visits – exam, vaccinations, dewormings, and discuss important issues such as neutering, training, insurance, microchipping, etc.
  5. Domestic health certificates
  6. Pre-anesthetic exam and bloodwork
  7. Euthanasia

Euthanasia

Over the years I have recognized the importance of “home euthanasia”. To some, preventing the stress of going to the hospital is extremely important at such a sensitive time. To others, it is often impossible to transport their pet. In any case, the euthanasia can be performed wherever the pet feels most comfortable, whether it be under a favorite tree, on their bed or by a roaring fire.

In terms of the procedure, every pet is sedated before the catheter is placed to avoid stress. Once we are done with the entire procedure, you are given as much time as you need with your pet.

Lastly, I provide cremation services if needed through either “Delaware Pet Cremation” or “Pet Memorial Services” (126 Turner Lane, West Chester, PA 19380) where they offer a variety of services (private and communal cremations as well as a variety of urns, jewlery etc).

Doctor

Dr. Kimberly Knipe

My name is Dr. Kimberley Knipe and I graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 1995. Since then I have been practicing small animal medicine exclusively. I worked in Alexandria Virginia for 7 years and then started to practice in Chester County, PA in the year 2002. In addition to my mobile practice, I also work at a nearby AAHA certified animal hospital. I specialize in dogs and cats.

I have 3 young children, 2 dogs (named Jibby and Kayla) and a cat (named Fred). On the days that I am not practicing veterinary medicine, I enjoy spending time with my children, playing tennis, running, skiing and traveling.

The idea of opening up a mobile veterinary service came to me when I was working on an animal of a woman who lived in a retirement community nearby. She could no longer drive and relied on the availability of her daughter to get her to the veterinary hospital. I thought that there really isn’t any reason why I couldn’t go to her!
